Who looks after your data
howtopreventacnescars.com operates on its own and sets what this site measures, which makes it the party responsible for that data. You can reach it at privacy@howtopreventacnescars.com.
What this site collects
- Reading statistics: the pages you view, the referring page, time on the page and scroll depth, the links and buttons you use, and basic device facts like screen size, browser language and time zone.
- Your answers in the acne scar risk check: the result is calculated in your browser and your answers are not stored or sent. Only the result name travels in the analysis link if you choose to press it.
- Hosting logs: the host records IP addresses, browser types and requested pages for security and uptime.
How the statistics work
Your browser sends statistics to /api/land on this site, and from there they go to an analytics provider (EU) that keeps them on servers in the European Union. The IP address is forwarded so an approximate location such as country and city can be derived. A random code in session storage links the pages of a single visit and is deleted when the tab closes, so different visits stay unconnected. Statistics set no cookies. In the EU, nothing is counted until you choose "Allow".
The analysis link
Buttons such as "Start my analysis" go through howtopreventacnescars.com/scar-check on the way to acne.today, an independent paid service. The link carries which site and which button sent you. Photos, quiz answers and payments you give acne.today are covered by acne.today's own privacy policy.
Legal grounds
- Statistics on EU visitors: consent, which you can take back anytime with "Statistics choice" in the home page footer.
- Statistics on other visitors and hosting logs: a legitimate interest in running a safe site that works.
- Messages you send: so we can reply.

Retention
Hosting logs are kept up to 90 days. Messages are kept as long as needed to answer, and no longer than two years.
Recipients
Data reaches only the analytics provider and the host, each limited to what it needs. Nothing is sold.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or erase your data, to get a portable copy, to restrict its use and to object. Send a message to privacy@howtopreventacnescars.com; a reply follows within four weeks. You can also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
